French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) FC has announced its plan to release matchday posters as non-fungible tokens (NFTs), allowing fans to collect unique digital assets. This innovative collaboration between PSG and its sponsor, cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com, showcases the potential of blockchain technology in the world of sports and entertainment.

The poster series, created using generative artificial intelligence tools by artist Benjamin Benichou, consists of 1,970 designs with only 7 chosen for release as NFTs. These posters will be displayed during seven matches throughout the season, starting with the upcoming match against Olympique de Marseille in France’s Ligue 1 football league.

PSG Chief Brand Officer Fabien Allègre expresses the club’s enthusiasm for this collaboration, stating, “This collaboration with Benjamin Benichou has given us a better understanding of this new tool, which opens up endless creative possibilities. In continuing to explore new frontiers, Paris Saint-Germain is striving to redefine the future of sport, opening up unexplored horizons for new generations of supporters.”

Each NFT poster is associated with a specific match day and will be airdropped to eligible accounts on Crypto.com’s NFT platform. Collecting the entire series will reward fans with the opportunity to own prints of the original artwork used in the poster design process. Additionally, fans have the chance to win signed shirts from PSG players and VIP tickets to the team’s final home match of the season.

This partnership between Crypto.com and PSG builds upon the 2021 sponsorship deal, which sees Crypto.com contributing approximately 430 million to the football team over a three-year period. Becoming the club’s first official cryptocurrency platform partner, Crypto.com is expanding PSG’s involvement in the world of crypto. In 2020, the team entered into a licensing agreement with the NFT fantasy sports game Sorare, and Lionel Messi’s transfer to PSG famously included payments made via Socios cryptocurrency fan tokens.
