NFT Trader Hacked: Garbage Collectors Gone Rogue

NFT Platform Hacked, Millions of Dollars Worth of NFTs Stolen

NFT Trader hacked, millions in NFT stolen! šŸ˜±šŸ’ø

It was a dark day for NFT Trader on Dec.Ā 16, as the platform fell victim to a security breach of epic proportions. Hackers, with the audacity of garbage collectors gone rogue, swooped in to steal millions of dollars worth of nonfungible tokens (NFTs).

The incident sent shockwaves through the digital asset community, leaving investors in a frenzy. NFT Trader, desperate to contain the chaos, took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm the attack on their old smart contracts. They urgently pleaded with users to revoke delegations to two suspicious addresses: 0xc310e760778ecbca4c65b6c559874757a4c4ece0 and 0x13d8faF4A690f5AE52E2D2C52938d1167057B9af.

Hereā€™s the juicy part: the stolen loot included not just any NFTs, but highly coveted ones. Imagine at least 13 Mutant Ape Yacht Club tokens in the hands of these miscreants, along with 37 Bored Ape tokens, and letā€™s not forget about the swanky VeeFriends and World of Women NFTs. The collective value of these treasures amounted to a mind-boggling near $3 million, according to the aptly named Revoke.cash.

As news of the hack spread like wildfire on social media, it became a breeding ground for rumors and misinformation. Panic was palpable. And amidst the chaos, the million-dollar question persisted: How many hackers were behind this audacious heist? It seems even the attackers themselves couldnā€™t agree. In an unexpected twist, one of the hackers pointed fingers at another user, claiming they were the original exploiters. Ah, the plot thickens.

In a brazen message to the victims, one attacker declared their true motive. They shamelessly confessed to being on the quest for ā€œresidual garbage,ā€ not realizing that they stumbled upon a digital gold mine. ā€œIā€™m a good person,ā€ they protested, ā€œbut I prefer to pick up the leftover trash.ā€ Leftover trash, huh? These NFTs could fund a lifetime of luxury, but apparently, that wasnā€™t their cup of tea.

Hereā€™s the kicker: the attacker wasnā€™t exactly a criminal mastermind. In fact, they had the audacity to admit they were only ā€œlimitedā€ in their technical skills. Maybe they should have stuck to collecting garbage after all. They even had the audacity to propose a deal to the victims, demanding a 10% bounty in Ether (ETH) in exchange for returning their precious NFTs. How magnanimous of them!

But wait, thereā€™s more. Brace yourself for the unexpected twist in this tale of digital crime. One of the victims astonishingly reported that the attacker had an ounce of remorse. Instead of simply holding their loot hostage, they returned a rare NFT along with 31 ETH, worth a mind-blowing $70,680! ā€œWhat in the world is going on. Is this real life?ā€ the victim in disbelief exclaimed on X.

While the dust has yet to settle, and the future of NFT Trader hangs in the balance, one thing is clear: digital asset investors must remain vigilant. The world of NFTs is a wild, wild west, where garbage collectors could turn into pirates overnight. Stay safe out there, fellow investors!
