In 2023, searches for ‘AI jobs’ were 4 times higher than ‘crypto jobs’ at the time when BTC reached $69K.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as the preferred choice among job seekers, according to a recent analysis by CoinGecko, a cryptocurrency data aggregator.

Between 2020 and 2022, searches for “AI jobs” and “crypto jobs” were relatively close, with AI taking the lead most of the time. However, when Bitcoin (BTC) reached an all-time high of $69,000 in November 2021, crypto took the lead. In 2022, the crypto boom attracted job seekers in large numbers, as evidenced by Google searches, due to increased adoption and interest in Web3 and cryptocurrency technologies.

After the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022, searches for “AI jobs” skyrocketed.

According to CoinGecko’s study, searches for “AI jobs” in 2023 peaked at nearly five times the number of searches for “crypto jobs” at their peak, and as of July 5, remained four times higher.

The report reveals that before BTC’s all-time high of $69,000, searches for “AI jobs” outnumbered similar crypto-related queries by a ratio of 3-to-1. However, after BTC reached $69,000, searches for “crypto jobs” surpassed AI on two occasions:

“At its peak score of 26 on both January 9 and 30, 2022, search interest in ‘Crypto Jobs’ surpassed ‘AI Jobs’, and was also 5 times higher than its baseline in January 2020.”

CoinGecko’s methodology utilizes a rank scoring system to determine “search interest,” taking into account Google search data from around the world. However, the researchers acknowledge that Google is not the primary search engine in every region, so the results may not accurately reflect the true level of interest.

Significantly, among the analysts’ other findings, Singapore has the highest search interest rating for both “AI jobs” and “crypto jobs” keywords.
