Gemini AI by Google to be more powerful than ChatGPT.

The CEO of DeepMind, a subsidiary of Google that focuses on artificial intelligence (AI), has stated that their upcoming AI system, named Gemini, will be more capable than OpenAI’s ChatGPT. According to a report from Wired, Demis Hassabis, the CEO of DeepMind, has said that Gemini is a large language model (LLM) that uses text similar to ChatGPT’s processes, but will be equipped with new capabilities such as planning or problem-solving. The system will be based on technology and techniques used in AlphaGo, an early AI system developed by DeepMind in 2016. Hassabis has mentioned that there will be “new innovations” that are “pretty interesting”. Gemini was first introduced at Google’s I/O developer conference in May, along with several other AI products. Cointelegraph has reached out to DeepMind for further comments on the development of Gemini.

“At a high level, you can think of Gemini as combining some of the strengths of AlphaGo-type systems with the amazing language capabilities of the large models.”

Hassabis has also emphasized the “urgent” need for further research into the likely risks of more capable AI systems. He previously stated that human-level AI could emerge before 2033. The news of Gemini comes after Google recently released its own AI chatbot named Bard, which competes with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. However, Bard faced internal skepticism from former Google employees over “concerns for society”. Google Bard has already been blocked from launching within the European Union due to regulators accusing the company of failing to file the necessary paperwork. Hassabis mentioned that Gemini is still months away from officially launching and will cost tens or hundreds of millions of dollars to develop.
